Removal of Impacted Wisdom Tooth

Wisdom teeth are the 3rd molars found farthest in the mouth just behind the 2nd molars. Its eruption takes place between  18-24 yrs old. An impacted tooth refers to a tooth that has failed to erupt fully in an expected normal position.

The impaction can be mesially angulated (towards in front), distally angulated (towards the rear), vertically angulated (upright), and horizontally angulated (lying on their side).

Inadequate jaw bone space is the primary cause. Failure to remove it will cause cysts or tumors, can damage the 2nd molar and can cause pain.
